What is CBD?

CBD is short for Cannabidiol and it’s a chemical compound found in cannabis plants. CBD is a naturally occurring compound that can be used in edibles and oils to induce relaxation and calm. It is not psychoactive, unlike its cousin Tetrahydrocannabinol.

In relation to CBD, you’ve likely heard the terms marijuana, hemp, and cannabis. Two primary species of Cannabis sativa are hemp and marijuana. Both have CBD but hemp has a higher percentage and less THC than marijuana.

Cannabidiol, a natural remedy that can be used to treat many common conditions, is very popular.

CBD is one of the 104 chemicals known as cannabinoids that are found in cannabis, or the marijuana plant, Cannabis Sativa (1Trusted source).

Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as THC (the main psychoactive cannabinoid in cannabis), causes the “high” feeling that is often associated with marijuana. CBD, however, is not psychoactive like THC.

CBD is a great option for people who want to relieve pain or other symptoms without resorting to certain drugs or marijuana.

CBD oil is obtained by extracting CBD from cannabis plants and then blending it with carrier oils like coconut oil or hemp seed oil.

It is gaining popularity in the world of health and wellness. Some scientific studies have shown that it can be used to treat anxiety and chronic pain.
